Layouts are and always will be something that I'm simply not good at.  I'm not fishing for compliments here... it's just what I think.  My layouts are generally simple and not all that inventive, but I feel that they've always been easy to navigate and easy to read (except version 2... tiny text hurts eyes).  If you're new to Random, it might be a little fun to see how it all started ^_^.
